ATTENTION SULEKHA : A few thoughts from a Reader

Before u people think its one more mundane blog about the intellectual theft thats happening, it sure is, but with a different vein to it, so do give a few minutes to this write
A few thoughts from my side, have been looking from the side lines of whats happening from a few days and wanted to write something about it.
What ever has happened with the content being copied and stuff is no way acceptable by any means, it leaves a very bad after taste, but just trying to find a band aid for it is of no use instead I feel prevention is better than cure is what needs to be followed.
Besides all the suggestions the members are quoting, I feel there is an underlying basic problem too(might be its just me who is thinking this way). The points system and the rewards have also got to do with this.
Lately am seeing lot of posts which are mere forwards or jokes or any such forwarded mails being put as posts, here, we are crying out loud of things being copied, then we need to be fair, even these forwards are copied. I feel most of these also must not be allowed. Where is the originality in them. I see quite a few members who post forwards and other jokes as blogs without reference to where they got it and are in good ranking and thus what happens?, many others try to do it, get more hits, more comments and increase the rating so that they can get goodies from Sulekha. If this is it, then, whats the difference between Sulekha and other sites, everyone is in the rat race and you are no different.
What Sauvik did was entirely wrong, along with that we need to look into these also, why did Sauvik do it, he did that to get goodies of any kind, its like trying to earn a fast buck thing. So eliminate the fast buck thing and many thigns get restored.
So how do we eliminate the mad rush to post any crap to get more points and in turn encash the goodies?
Her is what i feel, I am not sure if its the best solution, but let me lay it down. When something is dangled above a human being greed is always there, we need to have a way to not promote that.

To start with, please take out the ranking system. and the column for the blogs by "top ranked bloggers" contain all sorts of bull shit by many, I dont see how things can be featured, just because he/she is a top ranked blogger, the content is 6-8 lines complaining of something in their life?, does that consider as a featured blog just because the person is a top ranked one?. The way the points system work, seems that any person can get a good ranking by just posting crap and going on a comment spree. Where is the value, are we also going QUANTITY is better than QUALITY way??
Now about the goodies people might loose due to elimination of point system, there needs to be a different way to keep people wanting to write more. So how do u select and seperate the good from the bad and reward them?.
The ultimate happiness for a person who writes here will be to get published, If a person is here for the right reasons, he/she will consider it the best reward, if something they have put down gets published. So instead of giving candies to every Tom, Dick and Harry and screwing the friendly atmosphere, the editors can select blogs and try to get them published and the proceeds from the publishment can be shared by the Writer and Sulekha. Thus the writer gets his goodies in form of money and the recognition deserved and Sulekha gets some money too to maintain the site, protect the blogs and also hire some good attorney to sue people who violate the members property.
Having a set of points for a posting of a blog, commenting on the blog, replying to the comments is like putting greed into people to just work on quantity, which will kill the atmosphere and will lead to people getting greedy to just post crap to get points. If u can notice, the quality of the posts on the site has gone down after the points system came into place, but with so many blogs, do u have time to notice??
So, Sulekha wake up before this site becomes just like any other damn site, where people are running over one another to get some goodies and instead maintain some sort of exclusivity to this site and for god's sake u can sue the site which has aricles stolen from here, there is a need to get aggressive to defend the property of your members.
